It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.
Utility knives are a common sight in the everyday carry world. The reason is in their very name: knives are practical tools that help you do what you do daily. And some utility knives have even more specific purposes in mind. Take the Boker Plus Cigar Cutter, a high-end stonewashed titanium and stainless steel automatic opening utility knife that cuts a cigar cleanly and evenly and helps you open packages and other items with ease at the same time. Even if you aren’t a regular smoker, this unique and compact everyday carry blade is lightweight and discreet, and it looks great at the same time.
The Cigar Cutter has a unique two-button locking automatic opening that aids in its primary EDC function. The push button at the front pops the blade out at a 45-degree angle, moving it out of the way of the cigar ring and letting you cut a cigar with precision. If you press both buttons simultaneously, the 1.35” blade springs into a deployed position. The blade is smaller than most automatic knives, but its length means it runs under blade length restrictions on automatic knives in most jurisdictions. And the Boker Plus Cigar Cutter features a 9Cr13CoMoV plain-edge utility blade with enough length to open boxes and cut twine in a pinch.
What we like: The Boker Plus Cigar Cutter isn’t your traditional cigar cutter nor a traditional utility blade, but a fresh and premium interpretation of both.
What to watch out for: If you aren’t a regular smoker, the cigar-cutting function may be less important to you. In addition, the automatic opening and button lock mechanism may make it hard to carry, depending on where you are.
Final verdict: A premium addition to your EDC if you find yourself cutting cigars regularly, doubling as a blade for everyday tasks.
